Ring the Alarm Chicken with Honey Cabbage


This was just one of those random dishes I decided to put together. I wanted to make something easy and fun, and as always wallet friendly!! I had a head of cabbage and I had chicken tenders in the fridge, I could definitely work with that. So what do you need to create this awesomely tasty dish?

So what do you need?






… and of course the chicken or whatever protein you’d like.

I used a pack of chicken tenders that I cut up in smaller pieces (sorry, I forgot to take a pic of the chicken)

First things first get a large pot and put on a 1/2 of a cup water over a medium low heat. Then add…

 Vegetable flakes (or fresh)

Minced onions (dried)

Garlic (fresh)


Crushed red pepper (a shake or two)

Parsley Flakes

Let this simmer – if the water simmers down add a bit more, the vegetables and onions should have expanded and appear vibrant a colorful. It should look like this…

Now its time to add the cabbage…


Keep adding cabbage until the pot is full cover and let simmer over heat.

I like to let the cabbage simmer for 12-15 minutes

Start mixing the cabbage around with the goodness on the  bottom of the pot. Stir the cabbage a couple of times cover and let simmer again for another 10-20 minutes depending on how crunchy/tender you like your cabbage.

While the cabbage is cooing…lets get that chicken going.

Get a medium to large size pan (depending on family size) add…

Minced onion (dried)

1 pack of Sazon

1 Tbl of crushed red pepper (it was very spicy and still flavorful )

I say use as much spice as you’d like, you could even add real hot peppers.

Let the onions caramelize just a little bit.



Don’t forget to check on the cabbage ( I set timers)

Drain the cabbage a bit do not drain completely (you don’t want soggy cabbage, the water is for steaming)

Give the cabbage a stir, cover, and turn the fire down to the lowest setting.

Be sure to taste if the cabbage is to your liking you can drain completely turn the fire off and keep on the hot eye.


In the beginning I had no intention of adding honey but then I tasted the chicken and knew that I needed to cut that spice just a bit. A bit of sweet and spicy was pretty much on the brain. I poured about  1/4 to 1/2 of honey (1 small/medium sized head of cabbage).

I basically added to taste!!

Add the chicken to the caramelized onions…

While the chicken is finishing up, put the cream of mushroom soup in a small sauce pan feel free to use milk and or a little water to thin the sauce out some  – jazz up the sauce to your liking with a dash of parsley flakes, Adobo, and pepper.  Low fire is fine.

Once the chicken has fully cooked, begin plating and ENJOY!!
